What are the Applications for Construction Chemicals?

The use of construction chemicals in many building applications continues to grow as the population rapidly increases. There is a need for construction chemical products and especially dry blends to ensure that structures and infrastructure systems in global industry are more durable and long-lasting. 

Cement-based dry blends are divided into several groups. Among the more important applications are plasters, repair plasters, grout mortars, ceramic adhesives, joint fillers, jacketing and decorative plasters, leveling screed, and cement-based paints. What are the Construction Chemicals Applications of Çimsa Super White Cement?

Which Products Use Çimsa Super White to Make Construction Chemicals?

The construction chemicals Motiva Slow and Super White cements developed by Çimsa are CEM I 52.5 type cements developed in line with user requests. The most important properties expected of white cement-based dry blends are: 

  • Long pot life
  • Long open time 
  • Optimal use of water 

The Motiva Slow product in the Çimsa Super White family is an excellent performer in hot climates. In these climates, a long open time is one of the reasons that Motiva Slow is preferred.  The optimal setting time increases the time during which the product can be worked in mortar production, especially for white cement-based plaster and adhesives. This gives producers more time to do their work.

Research designed a high performance C2TE class ceramic adhesive using Motiva Slow with  2 different white cements.  The designed formula was subject to TSE 12004 testing (for the standard in question, see.) 

In the workability tests, Motiva Slow achieved a noticeable difference in workability time and open time.

What are the Important Considerations in the Application of Construction Chemicals?

Products that use Çimsa Super White in the manufacture of construction chemicals include joint fillers, pre-mixed plaster and mortar, satin plaster, cement-based paint, floor screed, ceramic adhesives and insulation products. 

  • In order to achieve perfect whiteness on the surface of applications with white cement, it is important that the whiteness be stable. In addition to the whiteness of the cement used in the blend, the filling materials used (e.g. calcite, silica) must also be clean and have a stable color.
  • In the production of construction chemicals, it is also important to be sure that chemical additives and pigments used in white cement are not organic. 
  • The chemical additives used in white cement blends should be transparent or white. 
  • In the application of colored pigments, complete homogenization must be achieved. 
  • The temperature must be above zero during the application of white cement blends. 
  • In order to achieve optimal workability time, the distribution of grain size in the dry blend should be carefully controlled.
  • The distribution of the grain size in the prepared mixture will affect strength and the mortar’s water absorption parameters. Optimization should be kept in mind during preparation.
