The first six-month profit of Çimsa is 133 million TRY
One of the leading cement and construction material producers of Turkey, Çimsa has announced that sales revenues has reached 586 million TRY in the first six months of 2016. The company's profit for the period amounted to 133 million TRY.
A global player on the cement and construction material sector with its different and innovative product range, Çimsa has shared its financial results for the first 6 months of 2016 with the public. Accordingly, by June 30, 2016 the company's turnover has become 586 million TRY. While the pre-tax profit from continuing operations is 170 million TRY, the company's profit for the period amounted to 133 million TRY.
Stating that the cement sector develops with the infrastructure and superstructure investments, Çimsa General Manager Nevra Özhatay said, “Today, Turkey is the world's fourth, and Europe’s largest cement producer. Domestic demand for cement is rising as gross domestic product per capita grows. Accordingly, the annual average rose by 5% in 2015 cement consumption in the last 10 years reached the 826 kilos. This points to a steady rise.
Due to increasing investment in infrastructure and accelerating the urban renewal projects as well as the new housing needs created by the young population in our country, we foresee that one of the most important inputs in the construction sector, the cement demand will follow a similar course in the coming years. We believe that the cement industry with a production infrastructure in the European Union Standards is an upgradable sector due to domestic developments as well as new markets earned abroad.
One of the important reasons for our stand as a strong player against our competitors is that, as Çimsa, we have the first and only Cement R&D Centre in the sector since 2000 within the Mersin Plant. There are basically three properties of the centre; manufacturing by creating new product development programs, finalizing the product with marketing and quality departments, creating added value for sales support services and the development of the market.
As Çimsa, we pioneered the growth in the first six months with our performance in the sector. As a result of our investment that we expect to be completed in the second quarter of 2017, Eskişehir Plant will be re-configured to produce both grey and white clinker. Moreover, we will continue working in order to promote our company in the world and reinforce our leadership in the industry with our products that have been segmented in accordance with the needs.”
